Yoga PhotosWhen I was attending college I was exposed to and, in turn, captivated by traditional Indian yoga culture. However, my yoga education was limited to books and videos until a friend introduced me to Jette Woman’s Health Spa (Dailan, China). At Jette I began studying yoga and assisting their Indian teacher. It was in this period that I noticed the profound effect that yoga had on my body, mind and soul.

Through teaching at the yoga studio, I gained much experience, but I felt I needed a more formal education. Because of this, in 2006 I chose to attend the Beijing Jingyuan Yoga School, one of the oldest yoga instructional institutions in China. The school increased my knowledge of yoga theory, while also instructing me in the practice of additional postures.

The formal instruction of the Jingyuan school furthered my interest and love for yoga. I took to it like a fish to water, practicing in every moment of free time I had. It was in this period that I truly began to see that yoga was more than just a set of postures. Through proper breathing and meditation, I learned I could reach a deeper part of myself than I ever knew possible.

Upon moving to Suzhou in 2006 I began teaching full-time at Shengma Yoga Studio in Suzhou New District (SND), while also instructing part-time in a studio downtown.

After about half a year at these studios I took on the role of primary yoga instructor for Becado Yoga and Spa in the Suzhou/Singapore Industrial Park (SIP). Additionally, combining my yoga skills with my ability to confidently speak English, I began private instruction with members of SIP’s large expatriate population.

After nearly two years of teaching at Becado Yoga and Spa, I chose to focus my energies on private teaching – realizing that in private instruction I have the ability to convey more about the practice of yoga than I could in large, crowded classrooms.

Presently, I live in SIP with my Canadian husband and our beautiful golden retriever, Addie (who can often be found practicing yoga with me).
